“Building on the experience of Namami Gange, we will undertake phase wise improvement of health and cleanliness of all major rivers, integrating check dam construction, Amrit Sarovar construction, and basin management into the National River Conservation Plan, and support states in treating water contaminated with arsenic, mercury and industrial pollutants.”
River rejuvenation is being extended beyond the Ganga: the Namami Gange model is being applied to other rivers, the National River Conservation Plan covers pollution abatement across multiple river stretches, and complementary efforts include Amrit Sarovar water bodies, check dams and basin management, alongside state support for treating arsenic/mercury/industrial contamination (linked with the Jal Jeevan Mission water-quality agenda). Implementation is phased and ongoing across rivers. Partial.
We have started multiple programmes to protect the environment like PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Railway Electrification, PM e-Bus, promotion of EVs, Ethanol and Bio-fuel promotion among others. Through these programmes, our citizens will benefit from the opportunity to live in a clean environment.
We will promote recycling programmes across the country. We will institutionalise recycling mandates across sectors to maximise mineral recovery from used products.
We will strengthen Mission LIFE, establishing a comprehensive repository encompassing both traditional and contemporary best practices, and fostering the global adoption of environmentally friendly lifestyles to promote sustainable living across the globe.
