“We will strengthen our paramilitary forces with state-of-the-art equipment and trained personnel to eliminate LWE in all its forms. We will ensure that the development and welfare schemes reach the people living in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism. With this 360 degree approach, we will eliminate LWE in our journey towards Viksit Bharat.”
Government data show substantial reduction in Left Wing Extremism (LWE): the number of LWE-affected districts fell from about 126 in 2014 and 38 in 2024 to 11 by late 2025, with the "most affected" districts cut from 12 to 6 to 3 (Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh), supported by new security camps, 596 fortified police stations, large numbers of arrests and surrenders, and development/welfare delivery (roads, electricity, PMAY, etc.) in affected areas. The government has set a target to eradicate Naxalism by 31 March 2026. As the explicit goal of eliminating LWE "in all its forms" is not yet fully achieved, this is assessed as strong progress but partial. (Figures cited are government statements.)
