Reinforce the fight against drugs using technology and enforcement

Bharatiya Janata Party · Lok Sabha General Election 2024

Last updated 3 Jun 2026

We will aim towards eliminating the threat of drugs on our society, especially our young citizens, through a series of technical, legal and intelligence programmes. We will work on enforcement and reducing demand for drugs. We will leverage Big Data analytics, artificial intelligence, drones and satellite imagery to detect and dismantle drug trafficking networks effectively.

Our Assessment

medium

India has strengthened its anti-drugs framework through an expanded Narcotics Control Bureau, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (demand reduction), and the MANAS national toll-free anti-narcotics helpline (1933) launched in 2024 for reporting and assistance, alongside record seizures and the use of technology and intelligence-sharing. However, the stated aim of "eliminating the threat of drugs" is a long-horizon goal that has not been achieved, and drug trafficking and abuse remain significant challenges. Partial.
