India’s toy sector has been substantially reshaped through quality-control orders, higher import duties, toy clusters and the National Action Plan for Toys, sharply reducing import dependence and raising domestic production and exports over recent years, with GST on toys cut from 12% to 5% (Sep 2025) to further support indigenous manufacturing under "Vocal for Local". A dedicated scheme to deepen the toy-manufacturing ecosystem has also been in preparation. However, becoming the "global hub" for toy manufacturing is a long-term trajectory that has not yet been achieved. Partial.
