Our Assessment

high

The internship pledge is delivered as the PM Internship Scheme, announced in Budget 2024-25 (Rs 2,000 crore, targeting 5 crore youth over five years in two phases), with a live 2026 application cycle (23,000+ seats) and a March 2026 revamp adding higher stipends and new sectors. Institutional expansion is underway: Budget 2025 announced IIT seat expansion (including 6,500 new seats at newer IITs, phased over five years) plus other capacity additions. Partial: programmes launched and scaling, with multi-year targets still in progress.
