“We will establish Nucleus Breeding Centres and Brood Banks to ensure availability of quality fish seed and broodstock for self-reliance in the fisheries sector.”
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the government is establishing Nucleus Breeding Centres (NBCs) - including for self-reliance in shrimp broodstock - and a national network of Brood Banks for commercially important species, complemented by integrated aquaparks built on a hub-and-spoke model for quality brood, seed and feed. These are aimed at raising aquaculture productivity and reducing import dependence for broodstock. Build-out is under way across states, so the pledge is in active delivery. Partial (strong action).
We will introduce drones, biosecurity measures and advanced disease-management technologies to strengthen aquaculture and protect the fisheries sector.
We will leverage satellite imagery and communication technology to enhance the safety of our fishermen at sea, providing timely alerts and information.
We will establish smart food processing hubs equipped with cutting-edge technologies to enable comprehensive monitoring of the entire food supply chain, from farm to table, ensuring quality, traceability and operational efficiency. We will position Bharat as a major player in value chains of processed fruits, vegetables, fish, seafood and dairy, among others.
