Our Assessment

high

India’s clean-energy transition has accelerated sharply: non-fossil installed capacity reached about 262.74 GW by November 2025 (around 51.5 per cent of total installed capacity), and India crossed the 50 per cent non-fossil milestone in June 2025, five years ahead of its 2030 NDC target. This is supported by mega solar parks, wind parks, the Green Energy Corridor transmission programme, ISTS-charge waivers and competitive bidding. The specific 500 GW non-fossil target is set for 2030 and is being progressed strongly but not yet met. Partial (strong action).
