Energy storage is being scaled to support renewable integration: the government approved Viability Gap Funding (VGF) schemes for Battery Energy Storage Systems totalling over 43 GWh, mandated energy-storage obligations, and 10 pumped-storage projects with a combined capacity of about 11,870 MW are under construction, alongside policies to attract private investment in BESS. Deployment is accelerating but large-scale storage capacity is still being built out. Partial.
We will set up a Centre of Excellence for clean energy technologies and position the country as Global Manufacturing Hub for Wind, Solar and Green Hydrogen and scale up Bio-Energy Manufacturing facilities from all sorts of waste.
We will establish nationwide smart grids integrated with advanced technology, including smart meters and control centres, for efficient and intelligent energy management.
With a clear focus on green hydrogen, we will invest in expanding production, developing technologies and aim to become a major green hydrogen production hub.
