Ensure quality school education via PM SHRI and 100% GER

Bharatiya Janata Party · Lok Sabha General Election 2024

Last updated 4 Jun 2026

We will ensure that every student gets the opportunity for high-quality school education. For this, we will strengthen the network of PM SHRI Schools, Ekalavya Schools and other such schools as per NEP to make them world-class. We will work towards a 100% Gross Enrollment Ratio from pre-school to secondary level.

Quality-school efforts are anchored by the PM SHRI scheme (PM Schools for Rising India), under which over 14,500 schools are being developed as model/exemplar NEP schools, alongside Eklavya Model Residential Schools for tribal students and NIPUN Bharat for foundational literacy and numeracy. Gross Enrolment Ratio has been improving at most levels but is not yet 100 per cent from pre-school to secondary (with secondary/higher-secondary GER notably below universal). The pledge is in active progress but the 100 per cent GER target is unmet. Partial.
