Translation and promotion of Indian literary works is supported through the Sahitya Akademi (including its translation programmes), ICCR cultural diplomacy and academic chairs abroad, and digitisation of classical texts. However, a dedicated, scaled programme specifically supporting translation and adaptation of ancient Indian literary works into foreign languages, as pledged, is only thinly evidenced. We will promote select destinations across Bharat as preferred venues to showcase the richness of Bharatiya weddings, highlighting the vibrant traditions, and supporting cultural exchanges.
We will develop thematic circuits for promoting cultural experience: border villages, sustainable ecotourism in under-explored regions, riverine tourism along major river ecosystems, island tourism hubs in Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar, and adventure tourism in the North East and other hill states.
We have launched a Swadesh Darshan programme for comprehensive development of tourist destinations. We will work with state governments to implement and further strengthen this programme. We will include destinations and circuits covering the life and travels of important saints and philosophers.
