The Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum (part of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project, to be housed in the North and South Blocks over about 1.55 lakh sq m and intended to be among the world’s largest museums) is being actively developed. In December 2024 the Ministry of Culture signed an agreement with France Museums Developpement, leveraging French adaptive-reuse expertise (as with the Louvre); the North Block is targeted for retrofitting by around June 2026 and the first gallery is expected to open by end-2026, with remaining galleries phased over subsequent years. Construction/design is under way but the museum is not yet complete. Partial (strong action).

We will develop thematic circuits for promoting cultural experience: border villages, sustainable ecotourism in under-explored regions, riverine tourism along major river ecosystems, island tourism hubs in Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar, and adventure tourism in the North East and other hill states.
We have launched a Swadesh Darshan programme for comprehensive development of tourist destinations. We will work with state governments to implement and further strengthen this programme. We will include destinations and circuits covering the life and travels of important saints and philosophers.
