Our Assessment

low

India protects traditional knowledge and cultural products through the Geographical Indications (GI) regime, the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library and engagement at WIPO (including the 2024 WIPO treaty on intellectual property, genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge). However, a specific initiative to develop harmonised legal standards for cultural IP protection in collaboration with WIPO and UNESCO, as pledged, is not clearly evidenced as a distinct deliverable. Pending, low confidence.
