Our Assessment
On track. The promise was to increase the BMTC fleet to 10,000 buses in five years. BMTC operates roughly 7,000 buses, and with the Centre allocating 4,500 electric buses to Bengaluru under PM E-DRIVE (alongside state budget provisions for thousands more), the fleet is reported to be on course to reach about 10,000. Progressing toward the target within the window, not yet reached.
