Our Assessment
Partial. The promise was to repeal the anti-farmer laws enacted by the BJP government and withdraw politically motivated cases against farmers. The Assembly passed the Karnataka APMC (Amendment) Bill reversing the BJP-era amendments - reinstating trading regulation and penalties (passed by the Assembly in 2023 and re-passed as the 2024 Amendment Act after a select-committee review). However, a decision on repealing the Karnataka Land Reforms Act amendments was not taken, the anti-cattle-slaughter and anti-conversion laws were not repealed, and withdrawal of cases against farmers is not confirmed.
