Help us verify“The Congress government will establish small, medium and large food processing industries across Himachal; special industrial packages will be given for this.”
The government has actively promoted industry and MSMEs, signing 37 MoUs worth about Rs 10,000 crore at the Him MSME Fest in January 2026 and developing supporting infrastructure including a pharma lab, MSME technology centre and skill centres. The existing Industrial Investment Policy 2019 already provides food-processing incentives such as electricity-duty exemption for fruit, vegetable and maize-based units. However, the promised new special industrial packages depend on an amended industrial policy that, as of January 2026, the Chief Minister said was still coming soon. So general industrial promotion is underway under the existing framework, but the specific new food-processing packages are not yet delivered. Budget: existing 2019-policy incentive provisions apply; no new dedicated package has been budgeted yet. Marked partial.
Government announces it will amend the 2019 industrial policy with incentives and concessions, including subsidised power.
