Our Assessment

On track, but not fulfilled. The promise is to upgrade both North Goa and South Goa District Hospitals to provide speciality-level services. Official sources confirm specialist services at both district hospitals, operation of a nine-bed ICU at South Goa District Hospital from May 2024, and additional district-hospital initiatives including stroke care and diagnostic facilities. Goa Budget 2025-26 provided a special allocation of Rs 5 crore each for upgrading both district hospitals and proposed day-care cancer centres in both. This confirms funded and operational improvement, but no approved source confirms that both hospitals have completed comprehensive speciality-level upgrades across all intended services.
