“We will introduce a homestay scheme which will provide an interest free loan of Rs 5 lakh and training for those local residents of Goa wishing to pro-vide homestay facilities.”
On track for the training and scheme-introduction component. The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa has introduced a Homestay and B&B Policy/Scheme for eligible homestays and B&Bs, with stated objectives including livelihood creation and self-employment. The official policy includes free training support from industry professionals, and the official launch page lists professional training and exposure visits among scheme benefits. However, this evidence does not confirm the separate promised interest-free Rs 5 lakh loan, so that loan component is tracked separately as pending.
Times of India reported that Goa tourism department would begin disbursal of Rs 2 lakh homestay grants to first beneficiaries under the Homestay and Bed and Breakfast scheme.
