“We will increase Delhi’s water treatment capacity to 1,500 MGD and establish additional reservoirs to enhance water storage and pumping capacity.”
Delhi’s water production is around 900-1,000 MGD against a requirement of about 1,260 MGD; capacity additions (including ~10.5 MGD from new borewells) and a Haryana raw-water exchange project are under way, but the 1,500 MGD treatment-capacity target and additional reservoirs have not been reached (Business Standard/PTI, March 2026).
