The government has moved to widen ration-card access — including raising the ration-card income eligibility limit (reported around ₹1.2 lakh) — with a large pool of new applicants (reported in the lakhs) being processed to bring in those previously left out. We will establish Welfare Boards for all auto, taxi drivers and domestic workers, under which we will provide life insurance up to ₹10 lakh, accident insurance up to ₹5 lakh, and scholarships for their children for higher education. We will provide a subsidy on vehicle insurance to auto and taxi drivers, and paid maternity leave up to 6 months to all domestic workers.
We will double the number of street vendor beneficiaries under the PM SVANidhi scheme.
