Support Nanda Devi Raj Jaat with greater grandeur

The Uttarakhand government approved new infrastructure works linked to preparations for the Nanda Devi Raj Jaat, including ₹1.36 crore for surface parking and toilets near the Wan Padav helipad, ₹40.22 lakh and ₹30 lakh for temporary parking facilities at Mundoli, and the remaining ₹1.88 crore for construction of the Wan helipad in Chamoli district.

A ₹1.21 crore allocation had been made for repair of 48 km of the Nanda Raj Jaat walking route, although work had not yet begun because administrative approval was still pending.

PWD granted approval for blacktopping and improvement of the Nalgaon–Bhatiyana motor road in Chamoli specifically in connection with the Maa Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra.

The Raj Jaat organising committee postponed the main pilgrimage from 2026 to 2027, citing unsafe and unpredictable September weather in the high Himalayas, including risks from snowfall and extreme conditions.

Uttarakhand PWD floated a tender specifically under the Nanda Devi Raj Jaat 2026 programme for repair and protection works on the 38.53-km Adibadri–Nauti motor road, including damaged walls, causeways and culverts.

CM Dhami sought ₹400 crore in central assistance for infrastructure required for the Nanda Raj Jaat and invited the Prime Minister to attend the pilgrimage.

Government ordered digital tracking and strengthened telecom arrangements along the approximately 280-km route. A high-level coordination committee, regular reviews, helpline, medical camps, doctors and heli-ambulance arrangements were also directed.

State government announced that the Nanda Raj Jaat would be organised as a major folk-cultural festival. Directions covered crowd management, alternative routes, parking, drinking water, toilets, eco-tent colonies, electricity, mobile connectivity, cultural promotion and environmental safeguards.

The Chief Minister again directed departments to begin advance preparations for the Nanda Raj Jaat scheduled for 2026, alongside planning for the 2027 Kumbh.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami directed officials to begin preparations for the upcoming Nanda Devi Raj Jaat. The direction came during a state-level review involving senior officials and district administrations.

BJP manifesto promised: We will spare no effort to ensure that the Nanda Devi Raj Jaat takes place with increased grandeur and fanfare, by providing all necessary support.
