Bargi project for Vindhya and Mahakaushal districts

The manifesto listed the Bargi project for Panna, Rewa, Satna, Katni and Jabalpur. Times of India reported in June 2026 that the Sleemanabad tunnel under the Bargi Diversion Project was nearing completion after 17 years, with only a small stretch of excavation remaining. The same report states that the project would carry water from Bargi dam to drought-prone districts including Katni, Satna, Maihar, Rewa and Panna, benefiting nearly 1,450 villages and 2.45 lakh hectares once operational. This is strong evidence of active progress toward the manifesto geography, but not full completion yet. The verdict is on_track. Budget: the tunnel cost was reported to have risen to nearly Rs 1,600 crore, but final utilisation for the whole project was not found.
