Ensure adequate participation of OBC, SC and ST communities in governance

Bharatiya Janata Party · Lok Sabha General Election 2024

Last updated 2 Jun 2026

We have 60% current ministers in the Union Council of Ministers from OBC, SC and ST communities. We have provided constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes. The benefits of all Garib Kalyan programmes have reached the OBC, SC and ST families. We are committed to Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and adequate participation of all sections in our journey to Viksit Bharat.

Our Assessment

Some stated elements are completed facts: the National Commission for Backward Classes was granted constitutional status via the 102nd Constitutional Amendment in 2018. The forward-looking commitment — "adequate participation of all sections" under Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas — is an open-ended aspiration rather than a defined, measurable target, and welfare-scheme reach to SC/ST/OBC families is an ongoing process. Marked partial: structural steps exist, but the participation pledge is not a completable, verifiable deliverable.
