Our Assessment

high

The pledge is being delivered through PMGSY Phase IV, approved by the Cabinet in September 2024 with an outlay of Rs 70,125 crore (FY2024-25 to 2028-29) to provide all-weather connectivity to 25,000 unconnected habitations via about 62,500 km of roads, with eligibility extended to smaller habitations in hill, north-eastern, tribal, aspirational-district and desert areas. Cumulatively, PMGSY has sanctioned over 8.25 lakh km of rural roads with about 7.87 lakh km completed (around 95 per cent) as of December 2025. The extension to remoter areas is in active delivery.
