“We will strengthen the modern road connectivity ecosystem to 15,000 km of access-controlled highways. We will construct ring roads around major cities to improve mobility and decongest cities.”
Access-controlled, high-speed expressway corridors are being expanded under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and the National Highways programme (including the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and numerous greenfield corridors), and ring roads/bypasses around major cities are under construction to decongest urban areas. The pledge’s specific 15,000 km access-controlled highway target is being worked towards but not yet reached, so this is in progress. Partial.
We will partner with neighbouring countries to strategically manage the Himalayan rivers. Our focus will be on holistic measures to mitigate the devastating effects of floods and harnessing hydroelectric power to generate affordable electricity.
We will continue to strengthen Bharat’s coastline by developing a resilient infrastructure, and prepare a master plan keeping in mind the special needs of coastal areas and ensuring all facilities.
We will transform our islands into premier global tourism destinations by developing world-class beach resorts, marine adventure activities, and robust coastal infrastructure, while preserving local ecosystems and promoting sustainable tourism.
