Our Assessment

high

This is being delivered: in August 2024 the Cabinet approved 12 new greenfield industrial smart cities under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), with an investment of about Rs 28,602 crore, spread across 10 states along 6 major corridors and aligned with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for multimodal connectivity. Together with 8 previously approved nodes, this forms a network of about 20 industrial cities (built on plug-n-play and walk-to-work concepts) aimed at balanced regional development and industrialising newer regions. Construction and allotment are ongoing, so the pledge is in active delivery. Partial (strong action).
