We will develop a substantial storage capacity in PACS under the world's largest grain storage scheme in the cooperative sector. We will complement it with basic facilities like grading, sorting, processing and packing.

Our Assessment

medium

The World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector was approved on 31 May 2023 and rolled out as a pilot, creating godowns and allied agri-infrastructure (custom hiring centres, processing units, Fair Price Shops) at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) through convergence of existing schemes (AIF, AMI, SMAM, PMFME). Under the pilot, godown construction was completed in 11 PACS across 11 states, with 500+ PACS identified and a target to complete construction by December 2026; Budget 2025-26 extended the programme nationally and PACS computerisation is being accelerated. Real progress is under way but capacity created so far is small relative to the plan’s scale. Partial.
