Our Assessment

high

The pledge to develop a Digital Public Infrastructure for agriculture has been delivered in framework terms. The Union Cabinet approved the Digital Agriculture Mission in September 2024 (Rs 2,817 crore; central share Rs 1,940 crore), creating the AgriStack DPI (Farmers Registry, Geo-referenced Village Maps, Crop Sown Registry), the Krishi Decision Support System (Krishi-DSS) and a national Soil Fertility & Profile Map. By 2025, 19 states had signed MoUs, Farmer ID pilots were completed in six states, and the programme targets digital identities for 11 crore farmers by 2026-27. The DPI has been established and is being rolled out; full farmer coverage is the remaining scale-up. Fulfilled (with implementation ongoing).
