Our Assessment

Railway manufacturing is being scaled with indigenous rolling stock - mass production of Vande Bharat trainsets (including sleeper and Namo Bharat variants), modernised coach/locomotive factories, the 12,000 HP electric locomotive programme, and growing interest in exporting Indian-made trains and components. R&D and Make in India sourcing are being deepened. Becoming a "leading global railway manufacturing hub" is a continuing trajectory rather than an achieved end-state. Partial.
