Our Assessment
The Green Credit Programme (notified under the Green Credit Rules, 2023) incentivises voluntary environmental actions - beginning with tree plantation on degraded/notified land - and is being expanded to additional activities (water, sustainable agriculture, waste management, etc.), complemented by the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) for the compliance and offset carbon market. The programme is operational and its scope is being broadened. Partial.
