Our Assessment

Network expansion continues at a high pace: in the April-November 2025 period alone over 900 km of new lines were opened and about 7,051 km of track renewal was completed, alongside Dedicated Freight Corridors handling 400+ trains daily, with capital expenditure of about Rs 2.52 lakh crore for railways in 2025-26. The annual pace of new commissioning supports the 5,000+ km/year ambition, though year-to-year figures vary. The pledge is being actively delivered. Partial.
