What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We are committed to achieving the target of a carbon sink by enhancing the tree cover. We will launch the Green Aravalli Project, a green corridor to protect and preserve biodiversity in the region and combat desertification.”
Our Assessment
Tree-cover and afforestation efforts continue toward India’s NDC additional-carbon-sink target, supported by the Green India Mission, the Nagar Van Yojana (75 new urban-forest projects sanctioned in 2025) and compensatory afforestation. The Aravalli Green Wall Project (a green corridor across the Aravalli landscape in Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi to combat desertification) has been initiated. Implementation is ongoing and the carbon-sink target is not yet fully met. Partial.
