Our Assessment

This is a continuing operational commitment rather than a discrete deliverable. The Forest (Conservation) Act, a central law now the Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) Adhiniyam, is in force and administered by the state Forest Department on an ongoing basis. No approved-source evidence was found of either a specific enhancement to make its implementation notably more effective for forest, water and wildlife protection, or of a failure of implementation. Recorded as ongoing as a continuing statutory function. Budget: the Forest Department carries a standing operational allocation for this function; no dedicated new budget line was identified.
