What does this status mean?
Meaningful delivery has occurred, but the stated commitment is incomplete.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“Construct 2.5 lakh houses to improve the standard of living of tribals”
Our Assessment
Tribal housing is being delivered through equivalent programmes. A March 2026 parliamentary reply reports 72,378 Gujarat houses completed in the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan reporting period, against 73,427 sanctioned. The programme began in October 2024, so these completions provide a documented post-election subset toward the 2.5-lakh housing commitment. They are credited even though the delivery scheme has a different name. The figure is not an exhaustive current-term total across Vanbandhu, PMAY-G and PM-JANMAN, and overlapping programme figures must not be added together. A de-duplicated ledger demonstrating 2.5 lakh completed tribal-family houses has not been verified. The promise is Partially Done.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why partially done?
72,378 reported tribal-housing completions establish meaningful delivery, but do not demonstrate the full 250,000-house target.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why high confidence?
An official parliamentary table directly reports Gujarat's completions. Confidence is High in this documented subset, with the broader current-term total explicitly left unresolved.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- A de-duplicated Gujarat ST-beneficiary completion ledger since the 2022 election
- Reconciliation of Vanbandhu, PMAY-G, PM-JANMAN and DAJGUA housing counts
- Completion and occupancy evidence for the full 250,000 houses
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
