What does this status mean?
The term is active and there is no evidence of action or reversal.
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes how strong the available evidence is.
Original manifesto wording
“We will establish a Coastal Coordination Committee for fishermen in which meetings will be held quarterly in the presence of the District Collector and the Fisheries Minister.”
Our Assessment
The manifesto specifies a fishermen’s Coastal Coordination Committee with quarterly meetings attended by the District Collector and Fisheries Minister. A July 2025 parliamentary reply reports a different interdepartmental committee overseeing Gujarat fisheries harbours and aquaculture. It does not show that the promised fishermen’s forum was established or that the specified officials met quarterly. I found no constituting order, membership list or meeting minutes for the promised committee. The status is Pending.
The reasoning behind the verdict
Why this assessment?
Reviewed
01 · Delivery status
Why pending?
The 2025 interdepartmental harbour-and-aquaculture committee has a different stated purpose. Without a constituting order and quarterly minutes identifying fishermen’s participation, the District Collector and Fisheries Minister, it cannot be counted as delivery of this specific promise.
A committee with a related fisheries remit is not treated as the named forum without evidence that it performs the promised quarterly consultation.
02 · Strength of evidence
Why low confidence?
The only identified official committee has a different remit, and no primary record of the promised forum or its meeting frequency was found. This is a low-confidence assessment of absence of verified delivery, not proof no meeting occurred.
What would help us reassess?
The documents that could clarify delivery of this commitment.
- Notification establishing the fishermen’s Coastal Coordination Committee
- Membership and scope of the committee
- Quarterly agendas, attendance and minutes showing the District Collector and Fisheries Minister participated
Status describes delivery. Confidence describes the evidence.
