high

On 7 April 2026 the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry and the Delhi government announced regularisation of unauthorised colonies on an "as-is where-is" basis, with 1,511 of Delhi’s 1,731 unauthorised colonies cleared under a revamped PM-UDAY scheme covering about 45 lakh residents; online applications via the SWAGAM portal were to open from 24 April 2026, with MCD issuing regularisation certificates. The framework is in place and applications launching, but conveyance of ownership rights to individual residents is still in progress.
