Our Assessment
On track. Fishermen support continues and is being expanded: a diesel subsidy of Rs 9 per litre for mechanised boats, subsidies for motorised and non-motorised fishing nets, and development of new fishing harbours and fish-landing centres (a reported Rs 3,256 crore planned investment across 9 harbours and 8 landing centres), plus sea-safety transponders.
